Air Humara
Created by innovative designer and out-of-the-box thinker Peter Fogg in 1997, the Nike Air Humara was originally made as a technically proficient trail running shoe for use in difficult terrain and harsh weather.
Its name and design were both inspired by the Tarahumara people of Mexico, who have long been renowned for their long-distance running abilities. This resulted in a shoe that was hardy and athletic without being too bulky or restrictive, allowing the wearer to move quickly and easily through a variety of outdoor environments while remaining protected from injury.
It was soon joined by the Air Terra Humara – an equally rugged, boot-like shoe with an aesthetic based on a motorcycle wheel. This model in particular became a favourite amongst celebrities and was ubiquitous on the streets of New York and Los Angeles in the years after its release.
Almost cancelled before Fogg completed his groundbreaking design, the Air Humara made a stunning comeback after a joint effort with Supreme in 2017 produced three brightly coloured versions alongside a sleek black colourway. In 2022, three elegant editions were created in collaboration with Jacquemus, giving the Humara yet another boost and leading to a run of stylish general release colourways.
The Nike Air Humara has experienced a remarkable renaissance as a sporty lifestyle model with a strong aesthetic that delivers high levels of comfort whatever the conditions.
