Nike Air Force 1 Low x Billie Eilish

This monochromatic Nike Air Force 1 Low x Billie Eilish was made in collaboration with the popular music artist. As such, it brings a new aesthetic to the classic AF1 silhouette. To do so, it has been crafted using pieces of fabric left over from previous collaborations alongside other sustainable materials. The entire design comes in one satisfying tone – a soft tan beige called Mushroom – though tiny specks of black can be seen on the outsole, indicating that it is made from recycled Nike Grind rubber.

The midsole, with its capitalised Air lettering, has a textured exterior and a line of broad stitches in a groove along its top edge. Just above this, where the upper begins, a band of material with an angular formation of diagonal lines runs around the whole shoe. The only part where it cannot be seen is at the back, where a suede heel strip crosses over it to connect with the midsole below. Despite being of one colour, the upper is made from different materials whose alternative textures slightly alter the appearance of this tone. The base layer is a soft textile, and suede patches of irregular shapes have been placed over the top of this to form the upper layer. These appear in somewhat random positions, giving it a captivating look that reflects Billie’s rebellious nature, while the suede swooshes and heel panel are in their usual locations.

Zigzag stitching has been sewn into the upper along the lines where the forefoot and heel panels would normally be to honour the classic AF1 silhouette. Further embroidery subtly highlights the tongue patch and heel, both of which feature Nike Air branding that merges in with the colour behind it. At the end of the laces is a lace lock with the pop star’s instantly recognisable Blosch logo embossed onto it. Meanwhile, inside the sneaker, tan-coloured mesh covers the lining, before an insole with an off-white, marbled surface completes the design. Printed along it in black as a representation of the partnership is “Billie Eilish”, followed by an “X” and the Nike logo.
