Jordan 6 Retro
"Georgetown"
CT8529-012
This stylish Jordan 6 Retro features the colours of the Georgetown Hoyas – the basketball team defeated by Jordan’s North Carolina Tar Heels in the final of the 1982 NCAA championship. The first of these colours is an appealingly light shade of grey known as Magnet. It shows up through the centre of the outsole between the translucent accents that cut in from the flanks and across the heel, which is capped with a piece of opaque Magnet rubber. Circular indentations fill out the forefoot to produce traction there, while a large College Navy Jumpman angled across the middle of the outsole exhibits the second Georgetown hue.
Both the translucent sections of the outsole and its Magnet-coloured areas reach up to connect with the midsole layered above it. Atop each of the former parts, there are strips of College Navy polyurethane that contrast boldly against the pale blue tinge running through these partially see-through bits. Clear windows in the heel on each flank show off the Air cushioning located there for maximum comfort underfoot. The rest of the midsole is coated in more light grey tones, as is the upper, which is made from high-quality suede. This includes the main layer of the forefoot and sidewalls, the overlay that encompasses the heel and the angular overlays that zig-zag over the flanks. In the gaps left by these last features, perforations have been added to bring breathability to the sides of the foot.
The shoe’s eyelets are pressed directly into the suede beside the tongue, whose bottom half is crafted from a tight Magnet mesh with its own ventilation holes. The laces also carry this pleasant grey, as do the ankle-protecting humps that bulge from the sneaker’s high-cut collar. Large perforations mark these protrusions, with smaller ones gathered in front and behind them, while three broad ridges slope upwards from here to the forward edge of the collar.
Inside, the lining is a pale shade of grey, and the insole establishes another tonal juxtaposition with its use of College Navy as the background for its light-coloured Jumpman logo. The Magnet tongue sticks up into a rigid arc over the top of the foot, its peak embossed with intertwining Air Jordan text and a pair of square-shaped holes. Below this is a College Navy toggle with a Magnet Jumpman printed onto its front, another of these unmistakable logos appearing on the lace shroud underneath it, this time in College Navy on Magnet. Meanwhile, a Magnet heel pull loops out at the back of the shoe just beneath the topline, a bold College Navy band embossed across it. Further down the heel in delicate College Navy embroidery is yet another Jumpman silhouette and the word “Air”, the pair of branding elements rounding out this sneaker in sophisticated style.
