Jordan 4 Retro

This Jordan 4 Retro has been playfully nicknamed Messy Room in reference to its offbeat combination of tones and textures, thanks to which it looks quite unlike most other sneakers. The sturdy outsole starts things off relatively subdued, with its elegant mix of Gym Red and white, the former bringing colourful highlights to the toe cap and heel, the latter filling out the middle of the foot. Its herringbone grip lines are oriented in different directions depending on the section they cover, while a smooth section below the midfoot contains a bright Gym Red Jumpman in its centre. Moving upwards, the midsole is entirely coated in white tones, its polyurethane construction augmented by the presence of a visible Nike Air unit in the heel that provides maximum comfort underfoot.

The rich tone of French Blue coats the lower half of the upper, which is made up of a glossy piece of leather around the forefoot and fine nubuck from toe to heel. This latter material also appears on the quarter panel, whose French Blue surface is smooth on some parts and ribbed on others. White mesh netting on the front and sides of this section give way to more areas of deep blue, while also ventilating the top of the foot. This grid pattern returns on the Pearl White tongue, where it has been inverted to create embossed squares on the soft material that shapes its surface. In its centre is a large white patch with French Blue Flight text and a Jumpman. Another of these memorable logos has been embossed onto the large white heel panel, whose fan-shaped upper half acts as a convenient pull tab.

Elsewhere, the outside of the collar is lined with luxuriously soft white corduroy, before the inner lining switches to radiant Gym Red. This tone continues down as far as the insole, which exhibits different hues on each foot. On the right, Altitude Green forms the backdrop for a French Blue Jumpman, while the left has a Chutney background and a Gym Red logo. Back on the outer, the TPU lace cages have alternating colours as well, the bottom two being French Blue, the top ones Chutney. Each one has five eyelets pressed into it to accommodate the French Blue laces, and the upper pair connect to white structural wings on each flank. The sneaker’s stunning blend of hues culminates in the multi-coloured Air Jordan lettering on the white patch sewn into the back of its Gym Red tongue, which rounds things off in typically bold fashion.
