Jordan 3 Retro

This Jordan 3 Retro is known as Lucky Green thanks to the use of the titular tone to accent its mostly white outer, creating an elegant sneaker with dashing highlights. Like many AJ3 designs, Cement Grey is the main hue to be found on the rubber outsole as, apart from a small Sail-coloured area on the medial midfoot, it covers the edges all the way around the shoe. The aforementioned Sail piece extends below the centre of the heel, which has a vibrant splash of Varsity Red on the Jordan text embossed there, before a cone of Lucky Green rubber filled with circular grip lines appears beneath the forefoot.

Above the star shapes embossed around the toe, the front of the midsole comes in Sail and has a band of stitching in a groove around its top edge. Meanwhile, the rest of the feature includes two stacked layers of polyurethane, the bottom one completely Sail, the upper one Sail along its front half and Lucky Green around its back half, which encompasses the heel. Just below this lush green section, an oblong-shaped window has been placed so that the wearer can view the Air cushioning that gives them incredible comfort as they walk.

Moving to the upper, the tonal setup changes to pristine white over the tumbled leather mudguard and the one-piece overlay that reaches from the forefoot to the heel. Here, it meets a large white panel which arcs upwards from the fan-favourite elephant-print overlay below it to just under the topline and back again. Its uppermost section is adorned with five ridges of increasing size that can be easily held to pull the shoe on, while its lower portion displays a Jumpman and the word “Air” in light grey.

Miniscule perforations fill the white leather that has been uncovered around the top of the collar where the tumbled leather overlay loops down and away from it, with more ventilation holes apparent on the eyestay and the lower part of the tongue. Between these two breathable sections, the leather upper cuts back in towards the tongue, and five Lucky Green eyelets have been pressed into each side to accommodate the laces. Below this, another elephant-print overlay with a pattern of dark and light greys wraps around the toe, while above it, white TPU half-circles carry the laces further up the sides of the tongue, culminating in another pair of larger Lucky Green eyelets on either side of the collar.

The sneaker’s inner keeps the same clean aesthetic, as white coats its soft, fuzzy surface. This includes everything from the insole to the lining and even the back of the tongue. A white branding patch has been sewn into this last component, but a much brighter effect shows up on the insole in the form of a Varsity Red Jumpman. Another of these vibrant logos has been artfully embroidered into the front of the white tongue, creating a final colourful flourish to complete this Air Jordan 3 in style.
